Research indicates that as many as 10 million adults in the US and perhaps as much as 5% of the adult population worldwide suffers from fibromyalgia. It strikes far more women than men, is illusive to diagnose and even more difficult to treat. Sometimes it's related to an identifiable cause, but all too often, there is none. Both pain professionals and patients struggle to find treatments that provide relief, but this is a complex condition for which nothing works for enough people to establish reliable standards of care.
Here, we try to provide some insights of our own and from research and best practices around the world. If you have fibromyalgia and know of resources we should share, please let us know.
