Individual dogs react differently based on their weight, age, metabolism and the specific cause of their discomfort—so specifics will vary from pet to pet. The cause and severity of the underlying condition and how long they’ve had it make the biggest difference. With long term conditions like chronic pain, pets may also experience muscle weakness from becoming inactive and it can take time to get those muscles working again. It may also take time to overcome reluctance to move around if it’s previously caused discomfort.

People tell us that they begin to see pets relaxing or moving more comfortably within 10-30 minutes after taking one serving. Others use up to 2 full servings at once, 2-3 times per day. Following are some general guidelines for use.

Give your pet the suggested serving below. Administer under the tongue if possible. Wait 15 minutes after each serving to see if there’s an effect and before giving up to one more full serving.

Under 10 lbs. = .25 - .5 ml

10-60 lbs. = .5 ml - 1.5 ml

Over 60 lbs. = 1.5 - 2 ml

Although most people notice improvements within 10-30 minutes after giving their pet the first serving, some have said that it may take several days to see results when their pet's condition is more advanced.

Nápreva may help relieve symptoms, but it does not cure the underlying cause. For example, if your dog has degenerative osteoarthritis or cancer, Nápreva may help with discomfort, but it does not cure these conditions. If you can’t get your dog to accept Nápreva or NáprevaPlus for Dogs by mouth, you can apply it on their food. Try to ensure that they eat all their food, or apply a little more than the suggested serving to be sure they get enough. We don’t recommend putting Nápreva for Dogs in your pet’s water since proper application requires the recommended concentration at once.

You’ll know if it’s working by observing your pet for 10–15 minutes after administering Nápreva or NáprevaPlus for Dogs. You should notice stressed pups relaxing, or pets suffering from pain moving with greater ease. If you don’t see the desired change, it’s safe to give them a little more Nápreva or NáprevaPlus for Dogs up to twice a day.
